I never knew of Michael Kamen until just now, as I was researching music for films I heard some of his music and added him to my list of Top Composers.

I was then stunned to absolute silence when I read he had died.

I find it quite strange that the passing of a man I never knew of would have such an effect on me.

I send my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

... and my apologies if this all sounds a bit odd.

Albie.

Hello Albie,

What you feel is not odd at all; on the contrary it affirms that there is a language beyond the words we commonly use, and the effects of that language transcend "the normal", transcend time, space, memory. Our daily language is extremely limited...but it's the best we've devised to date. However, the language of music is one of those "other languages", and some are more privileged then others in acquiring the knowledge to speak that language. And some, like Michael, even became great poets in that language.

And that's what you felt.

Thank you for sharing this here. All best to you, Dorian
