On Tuesday 7th December 2004, I was given the tremendous honour of receiving the prestigious Michael Kamen Award for composition at the BAFTA in London as part of the Access-To-Music Annual Awards Ceremony.
I would just like to say to Michael's family that this Award means so much to me. Just listening to Michael's music is already a huge privilege I sincerely enjoy, but to be presented with an award in his honour will undoubtedly be one of the most touching occasions in my musical life. The fact that Sir George Martin introduced and presented the award shows just how much Michael Kamen was loved and respected by others in the industry.
So many things have inspired my music throughout my young life (such as the day when I purchased my first Beatles record!) but I think it is safe to say that winning the Michael Kamen Award is certainly at the very top and will always be a treasured item which now sits proudly on my piano.
My only regret of that evening was that I never found the courage to tell Mrs. Kamen how thrilled I was in person, so I hope she gets a chance to read this message.
May the work of the musical genius that was Michael Kamen live on.

I have wanted to respond to this several times, but ewither I could not at the time (because I was on my way out the door) or I forgot what I wanted to say (old age).
But I think I have it together now. I wanted to say congradulations on your award, I know you are (as you should be) very proud!
And I am glad to meet yet another person who, like me and others here, love music, and especially have a speical connection for whatever reason to <Michael's music. His music has a magic about it that snares you doesn't it?
Just like his smile did and still does in his pictures!
